About Shama D Karanth
Dr. Karanth has a broad and rigorous doctoral-level training in biostatistics and epidemiology. Her current research focuses is on the application of causal inference methods in the field of aging epidemiology. Conventional statistical methods have limitations, Dr. Karanth is particularly interested in the use of advanced newer statistical methods to account for various types of biases that are inherent to observational studies. As an epidemiologist, Dr. Karanth believes that prevention is crucial to reduce the burden of diseases in advanced age. Dr. Karanth research interests are cancer epidemiology, particularly on lung and oropharyngeal cancer survivorship.
