About Patrick W Underwood

Hometown: Pinckney, MI

Clinical and Research Interests: Surgical Oncology

What were you looking for in a residency program?

I was looking for a residency program with a strong clinical experience in all of general surgery and its specialties as well as the guaranteed opportunity for two years of academic development time.

What are the strengths of the UF program?

UF Surgery will prepare you to practice as a general surgeon immediately after graduation but also set you up to pursue fellowship in whichever specialty you are interested. The academic development time is an outstanding opportunity to begin to develop your career as an academic surgeon.

What do you like best about living in Gainesville?

I love living in a mid-size college town that has everything you could need or want to do and provides the ability to afford a nice house on a resident salary. The weather allows for outdoor recreation all year long and the ocean is a short drive away.

List of hobbies/interests: Fishing, hunting, football
