About Walker R Ueland

Medical School: University of Kentucky College of Medicine

Hometown: Lexington, Kentucky

Clinical Interests: Vascular Surgery

What were you looking for in a residency program? Strong surgical training with an emphasis on research and co-residents I enjoy working with.

What are the strengths of the UF program? Resident camaraderie, faculty mentorship, complex cases, high case volume, and protected research time. UF Surgery checked all of these boxes. Training here prepares you to become a general surgeon right after graduation and also provides the opportunity to pursue a fellowship of your choosing.

What do you like best about living in Gainesville? Fun college town with an affordable cost of living. Great outdoor spaces, including trails, nature preserves, and Surgery tailgates on SEC Saturdays. Close proximity to Atlantic and Gulf Coast beaches for weekend getaways.

List of hobbies/interests: Fly fishing, soccer, golf, and trying to keep up on trail runs with my wife, Anna, and dog, Bubba.
