Ibrahim Nassour, MD, MSCS, FSSO, FACS

As a University of Florida Health surgical oncologist, I also serve as an assistant professor of surgery in the UF Division of Surgical Oncology. I specialize in gastrointestinal, pancreatic, liver and biliary cancers, with expertise in robotic pancreaticobiliary surgery and advanced regional cancer therapies.

I am honored to hold several leadership roles within the UF Department of Surgery, including director of robotic surgery, chair of the Robotic Steering Committee, director of Advanced Regional Cancer Therapies, assistant chair for performance improvement and physician director of quality. I also serve as the Commission on Cancer liaison physician and a UF Faculty Senate member.

I developed a comprehensive robotic surgical oncology program at UF Health, expanding the use of minimally invasive approaches for complex oncologic procedures, including robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure). I have also led the broader expansion of robotic surgery across the department of surgery and established two new clinical service lines at UF Health: cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) in 2021 and hepatic artery infusion (HAI) pump therapy in 2026.

I completed my surgical training at Johns Hopkins and UT Southwestern, earned a master’s degree in clinical and translational science, and completed advanced fellowship training in complex general surgical oncology at UPMC. My research focuses on minimally invasive and robotic surgery, neoadjuvant therapy for pancreaticobiliary cancers, and clinical trials incorporating liquid biopsies and adaptive neoadjuvant treatment strategies to optimize cancer care. My scholarly work has resulted in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book contributions.

I am double board certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology. I am a member of the Florida Medical Association, Society of Surgical Oncology, Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and American College of Surgeons.
