About Jordan A McKean

Hometown: Jacksonville, FL

Clinical Interests: Surgical education, social determinants of health

What were you looking for in a residency program? I wanted the place to feel like home. As surgery residents, we spend much of our time in the hospital with our colleagues, so it was important to me to be in an environment where I felt supported and comfortable. This in addition to top clinical training was first on my priority list.

What are the strengths of the UF program? Great clinical training from faculty members who are genuinely interested in watching you succeed and co-residents who support you on your good and bad days.

What do you like best about living in Gainesville? You can live very comfortably on a resident salary in a place that is almost always sunny and beautiful.

List of hobbies/interests: Running, birds, comedy, and true crime.
