General surgery:

Supports initiatives in the department’s burn unit, including honoraria, expenses for travel on employees, food, meetings and books.

Edward M. Copeland III Professorship
Honors Dr. Copeland’s continuing legacy in the field of academic surgery and his many contributions to the profession and to his patients. We established  this endowed professorship to enable us to continue to attract and retain the most promising physician-educators. This fund will assist in supporting the research, education and service missions of Surgical Oncology, with an emphasis on translational research.

General Surgery Education Fund
Supports division programs that include honoraria, expenses for travel on employees, food, meetings and books.

Surgical Oncology Research Fund
The Department of Surgery scientific and clinical research team continues to advance the technology and techniques necessary to push forward the frontier of cures by accelerating our progress as we develop more effective treatments against cancer. Please consider a meaningful contribution to advance our Surgical Oncology Research Program. With your generous assistance, we hope to defeat cancer in the laboratory, at the bedside, and in all our lives.

Trauma Program Fund
Supports initiatives in the divisions’ areas of trauma, burns and emergency surgery, including honoraria, expenses for travel on employees, food, meetings and books.

Pediatric surgery:

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH)
Supports the division of pediatric surgery’s research, education and promotional activities related to CDH.

James Lewis Talbert Lectureship
Supports the attendance of a guest speaker at the annual James Lewis Talbert Lectureship, in honor of Dr. Talbert, a professor emeritus and founding chief of the division of pediatric surgery, who joined UF’s College of Medicine in 1967.

Plastic and reconstructive surgery:

Furlow/Bingham Plastic Surgery Education Endowment
Supports the education of UF plastic surgery residents including honoraria, expenses for travel on employees, food, meetings and books. This fund honors former faculty members Leonard Furlow, M.D. and Emeritus Professor and former division Chief, Hal Bingham, M.D.

Maurice J. Jurkiewicz Professorship in Reconstructive Plastic Surgery
Supports a professorship to advance the clinical, research, and educational missions of the division of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Thoracic and cardiovascular surgery:

DTCV Academic Fund
Supports the division of thoracic and cardiovascular (TCV) surgery’s mission of clinical care, teaching, research and service.

TCV Fellowship Fund
Supports resident training in the division of thoracic and cardiovascular (TCV) surgery.

Transplantation surgery:

Surgery Transplant Research Fund
This fund supports research efforts for transplantation surgery.

James M. Seeger, M.D., Vascular Surgery Endowment Fund
Dr. James M. Seeger created, nurtured and led the UF College of Medicine’s division of vascular surgery for 20 years. To honor his memory and carry on his legacy, the Department of Surgery has established the James Matherson Seeger, M.D., Vascular Surgery Fund. Gifts to this fund will perpetuate Dr. Seeger’s legacy by providing program support and professional development opportunities for a new generation of vascular surgeons.
