Philip Efron, M.D., selected as Master of Critical Care Medicine

Philip A. Efron, MD, FACS, FCCM, Associate Professor, Acute Care Surgery

Congratulations to Philip Efron, M.D., FACS, FCCM, the Cracchiolo Family Professor of Surgery and director of the Sepsis and Critical Illness Research Center, on his selection as a Master of Critical Care Medicine from the Society of Critical Care Medicine!

According to the society, this honor is based on Efron’s achievements as a distinguished leader of international stature, personal character, eminence in clinical practice and outstanding contributions to research and education in critical care.

Efron, who also recently received a research award from the College of Medicine, will be expected to continue his important work to advance the technical and cognitive aspects of multiprofessional critical care and to serve as a role model to younger critical care practitioners and researchers.

The designation as Master of Critical Care Medicine was bestowed on Efron at last month’s SCCM Critical Care Congress in Chicago.
