Seven Department of Surgery faculty recognized as exemplary teachers

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2025 Exemplary Teacher award! Eligible faculty are nominated by their department chairs and are selected based on their record of education excellence with medical students, residents and fellows, graduate students, postdocs and mentorship of other faculty.

This year’s recipients were:

Janice Taylor, M.D., M.Ed. – Professor, Division of Pediatric Surgery
Jessica Taylor, M.D., M.B.A. – assistant professor, Division of Acute Care Surgery

Special congratulations go to Dr. Scali, who is receiving his 13th Exemplary Teacher Award this year! Doctors Satteson, Scali and Taylor are each receiving their third award and Dr. Johnson-Mann is receiving her second.
