Congratulations to our faculty who have received promotions, effective July 1!
Our newly promoted multimission-track faculty are Ellen Satteson, M.D., Samir Shah, M.D., MPH, Lisa Spiguel, M.D., Janice Taylor, M.D., MEd and Erin Vanzant, M.D.
Spiguel and Taylor were promoted to professor, while Satteson, Shah, and Vanzant were promoted to associate professor. These promotions are emblematic of the hard work, dedication and expertise that each of these physicians bring to the University of Florida and the Department of Surgery.

Satteson is a member of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is director of our Plastic Surgery Residency Program. Her pursuit of plastic surgery began with a fascination of the intricate anatomy of the hand and has completed multiple medical mission trips in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Moldova and Zimbabwe. She is also the director of the department’s Plastic Surgery Residency Program.

Shah is a member of the Division of Vascular Surgery. His career in vascular surgery stems from his interest in the breadth of diseases and treatment strategies that he is able to engage with, and he also enjoys that his specialty gives him the opportunity to form long-lasting, meaningful relationships with his patients and their families.

Spiguel is a member of our Division of Surgical Oncology and specializes on the surgical care of breast cancer and benign breast disease, the assessment of high-risk breast cancer patients and overall breast health. She is a member of the Chapman Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes physicians for compassionate, patient-focused care approach to care.

Taylor is a member of the department’s Division of Pediatric Surgery and serves as surgical director of the UF Health Pediatric Intestinal Rehabilitation Program, providing continuity of care to complex pediatric patients with intestinal failure. Her clinical focus includes all aspects of pediatric surgery, with special interest in neonatal surgery and minimally invasive surgery.

Vanzant is the associate trauma medical director of the division of Acute Care Surgery, the program director of the Acute Care Surgery Fellowship and is also a member of the abdominal wall reconstruction, fistula and hernia service team. She is also interested in nutrition and has recently completed a nutrition fellowship.
