UF Department of Surgery names thoracic oncology director

Vincent Daniel, MDVincent C. Daniel, M.D., was named director of thoracic oncology at UF Health by the UF Department of Surgery. He is also an associate professor of surgery in the division of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the UF College of Medicine.

Daniel earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee and completed his general surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he became chief resident in the department of surgery. He also completed a research fellowship within the department of tumor biology.

Daniel completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. During this time, he completed visiting fellowships in general thoracic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, as well as with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Daniel is board-certified in general and thoracic surgery and is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
