UF surgeons elected to national medical honor society

Saleem Islam, M.D., M.P.H., an associate professor of surgery in the department’s division of pediatric surgery, and Gabriela Velasquez, M.D., a fellow in the division of vascular surgery and endovascular therapy, both have been elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Membership in the organization is lifelong and honors “a lasting commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism and service.” The organization was founded in 1910.
