Cell death and cell signaling

The department of surgery’s research on cell death and cell signaling focuses on how cell processes contribute to a variety of medical conditions. Recent study topics include autophagy in the cirrhotic liver, autophagy and cell death in liver ischemia/reperfusion injury, insulin-like growth factor signaling in pancreatic cancer, cancer initiating cells in colorectal cancer, nanotechnology as a diagnostic and therapeutic modality for breast cancer and gastroesophageal reflux disease and malignant transformation.
