Josh Pickering, a U.S. Navy veteran and senior biochemistry major at the University of Florida has been awarded a Fall 2017 “Sport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship” by the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW. He is featured in an online video about the scholarship program. Pickering is pursuing a career in medicine and currently assists in the lab of Tiago Machuca, M.D., Ph.D., an assistant professor in the division of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the UF College of Medicine. The Help a Hero campaign runs from Oct. 16 through Veterans Day on Nov. 11. Click here to view the video.
