UF surgeon honored by cancer center for mentoring

Christiana Shaw, M.D., M.S., an assistant professor in the UF department of surgery, has received the Mentoring Outside the Box award from the UF Health Cancer Center. The award recognizes work with students, post docs and/or junior colleagues by a person who has “demonstrated a sustained and selfless interest in the professional development of his/her mentees, serving as a positive role model and offering expert guidance that results in the mentees’ intellectual and professional growth and success in achieving personal and career goals,” according to a statement from the cancer center.

At the center’s awards event April 7, Shaw received a plaque and $1,000 to go toward professional development or program support.
